2025-26 Schedule - Methodology & Caveats
All KAHL'ers --- This is our first year without Mikey controlling and monitoring the rink schedule and there are three competing interests vying for ice-time: KAHA, Frostletics, and the KAHL (us). With this being the first year with all of us scheduling ice in this more disjoint manner, please know that our posted game-times may change once youth participation gets finalized in October. Maybe for the worse or maybe for the better. If there are changes for any reason, I’ll post them in the captain’s GroupMe ASAP. I too play and don’t like my schedule changing so I’ll do what I can to minimize it, but please remember it may be out of our hands.
Overview: Our schedule only goes through the end of the calendar year. This is mainly due to the above unknowns. Our last game "Fall game" will be Sunday December 21st. We’ll likely resume Sunday January 4th. All teams in B/C/D divisions have 13 games in the first half, with the exception of the Dirty Rats who have 14 due to the odd number of D teams. The remaining 11 regular season games will play out after the new year and I'd guess will finish up in March, followed by the Playoffs. I’ll build the 2nd half schedule and have it posted hopefully by the middle of December.
Balancing: In loose order of priority, I consider any long gaps between games, number of late games, and number of early games. Late games are anything after 9:40pm and early games are anything starting at or before 8:00pm. The average number of late games across all divisions is 6 and early games is 4. I do my best to keep gaps between games as close to 1 game per week and late early games equally distributed. Most (myself included) don’t like playing late games, but my goal is to ensure we’re all close to the average as I can reasonably make happen
Rescheduling: If you need to reschedule a game, it’s possible. Please be considerate of refs/scorekeepers/the other team and identify conflicts well in advance. Yeah, refs/scorekeepers are paid but nobody likes having their schedules changed at the last minute.
IMPORTANT: Before texting me that you "need" to move a game, please identify an open game slot, contact the other captain, and see if both teams can agree on the new date. If you do, let me know and I’ll change the Master Schedule as well as notifying refs & scorekeepers.
If you see anything that I missed (which is definitely possible) please let me know and I’ll get it addressed. Thanks! Scott
