New to the KAHL and looking to join a team?

Welcome to the Knoxville Adult Hockey League (KAHL)! We are the largest and only full-sheet of ice recreational hockey community in Knoxville Tennessee. Whether you just unpacked your moving boxes, are picking your sticks back up after years away, or are stepping onto the ice for the very first time, you have found your local hockey home. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to keeping the sport organized, competitive, safe, and highly social.

Our normal season runs from late September until late April/early May and consists of 24 regular season games + playoffs.  We have 20 teams spanning 4 different divisions (see below).

During the summer, we offer a laid back draft league that runs from June until early August.  Also during this time, we offer a Rookie League Learn to Play for the true beginners.

Finding Your Fit: KAHL Division Breakdown

To ensure fun, safe, and balanced games, we group our teams into specific tiers based on overall skill, skating agility, and hockey background. Use this guide to find where you best fit:

πŸ† "A" Division β€” Elite Division

β€’ Division Profile: Our premier tier, characterized by fast-paced, high-energy, and intensely competitive hockey.

β€’ Experience Requirements: Designed for individuals with an extensive competitive background, including former collegiate (NCAA/ACHA), junior, or professional players.

⚑ "B" Division β€” Advanced / Upper Intermediate Division

β€’ Division Profile: A highly skilled tier focusing on strong game strategy, crisp puck movement, and a high "compete level."

β€’ Experience Requirements: Skaters must possess advanced hockey IQ and well-refined core skills, including strong skating edges, reliable stickhandling, accurate shooting, and structured playmaking.

πŸ’ "C" Division β€” Intermediate Division

β€’ Division Profile: A steady, competitive adult recreational environment.

β€’ Experience Requirements: Players can skate, stickhandle, and shoot at a competitive paceβ€”and occasionally even do so with their heads up! Most participants have a significant amount of adult recreational league experience.

πŸŽ“ "D" Division β€” Advanced Beginner Division

β€’ Division Profile: A lower-tier, reduced-tempo competitive division focused strictly on fundamental, slower-paced game play.

β€’ Experience Requirements: Skaters in this tier are still developing their foundational mechanics, including skating stability, puck control, shooting accuracy, and basic team positioning. This tier is reserved for players looking to compete solely against peer skaters of a matching, lower-intensity skill level.
