KAHL PLANS & PRICES FOR THE 2026-27 SEASON

This is for players that are signing up to play on a specific team!

Players without a team please reference here: Click here

ORGANIZATION & MISSION

• The KAHL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run by a volunteer committee of fellow adult hockey players.

• Our mission is to continue providing an adult recreational hockey program focused on safe, fun, and competitive play.

*Note: To that point, several players from last season were removed from future KAHL participation due to conduct that did not meet the standards of a for-fun, adult co-ed recreational league. Unsafe, reckless, or over-the-top behavior will be addressed.

2026-27 SEASON FEES & REGISTRATION TIMING

• The KAHL fee for the full 2026-27 main winter season will be $875 (this is down from $990 last season) for 24 regular-season games plus playoffs.

• Fees may be paid in full at registration or through a three-installment payment plan.

• The payment plan will be: $295 at registration, $290 on October 1, and $290 no later than February 1, 2027.

• Goalie fees are being reduced to $438, which is roughly half of the full skater fee. Goalie fees may also be paid in full or in three payments of $146 on the same schedule.

• Registration at the new fee will open July 8th and close on August 1.

• Like last season, late registrations after August 1, but before August 15, will incur a $50 late fee to encourage early sign-ups.

• Late-window registrations are not guaranteed and will depend on available, division-appropriate roster spots.

• Registration will again be handled through CrossBar at www.KnoxAHL.com.

GAME FORMAT

• Ice-time blocks will remain 75 minutes.

• Games will include a 3-minute warm-up, prompt puck drop, and 30-second breaks between periods. The goal is to get on the ice, play, and get off efficiently.

• Regulation game time will remain three 20-minute periods.

• Stop-time will be used during the final 2 minutes of one-goal games.

• Games tied after regulation will go directly to a three-player minimum shootout.

SEASON FORMAT

• KAHL will retain a 24-game regular season, running from late September or early October through late April or mid-May. Exact start dates will be determined after coordination with Cool Sports and KAHA.

• End-of-season playoffs will remain double-elimination, guaranteeing each team at least two playoff games. Teams should average approximately three playoff games.

GAME SCHEDULE

• KAHL will continue to prioritize weekly games and avoid the latest time slots when possible, but our schedule will continue to be driven by availability after youth hockey.

• Sunday games are expected to be similar to last season, with approximately 5:40 p.m. starts and some earlier game times.

• The Monday-Friday schedule will likely be similar to past seasons.

TEAM AND ROSTER POLICIES

• All KAHL participants will register as full-paying, full-time players. There will be no part-time option.

• Each team must have at least 12 full-time skaters plus a goaltender on its roster.

• Players wishing to register or play in more than one division must receive pre-approval.

• Goalie-only players will receive placement priority over goalies who also skate out in another division.

• Players who are new to KAHL/AHL will be evaluated before they are officially assigned to a roster. Captains with new players should contact Adam or Jimmy so those players can be evaluated, possibly during Summer League.

TEAM VIABILITY AND PARITY

• The KAHL Competition Committee will work with captains to fill rosters and help individual players find teams.

• KAHL will also continue working toward better parity within divisions as rosters are adjusted. For example, we will not allow individual teams to load up on top players at the expense of competitive balance.

Good luck this season!
